But that's not why I've resurrected this blog. Maybe I'll post those pics tomorrow... I'm resurrecting because I want to share another aspect of myself with you.I'm doing the Susan G. Komen 3-Day For The Cure. I'm a first time walker on Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-11173096967884043122009-02-13T23:57:00.002-06:002009-02-14T00:28:10.454-06:00I'm So SorryI have had no projects to do lately. The family had a bug at the beginning of January that was purely miserable and landed the child in disposable diapers. I sent my husband to the store to buy a pack of said disposable diapers and he came back with a case. So, we were forging through them. But, we're back in cloth now and I am hoping to cut some dipes tomorrow. Additionally, I've got this Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-68183038822608302992008-12-21T22:40:00.002-06:002008-12-21T23:02:48.774-06:00Rest in Peace, Seam RipperI haven't been doing much lately, so I haven't posted lately. Over Thanksgiving weekend, I made two diapers. One on Saturday at my mom's house and one on Sunday at my inlaws' house. The one on Sunday turned out much better than Saturday's. It was the same stained glass fabric from IKEA. Saturday's diaper is dirty, so I can't take a photo. But, what I can say is that I learned a few things!Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-56472910757006012102008-11-08T15:41:00.003-06:002008-11-08T16:04:17.193-06:00Ok...ConfessionI'm stuck on making diapers. There are a few reasons why. The first and main reason is that my youngest needs diapers. So, I'm making them. Fair enough, right? Secondly, it is that I'm sick of them not turning out perfect. So, I make more to try to get them better. Third, and dumbest reason ever, is that I'm too intimidated to try other things yet. Hush. I just started sewing a couple Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-81189519907041670092008-11-02T17:39:00.002-06:002008-11-02T18:09:06.304-06:00Yet Another DiaperOk, ok... I am on a diaper jag. I am really enjoying doing these. Note: I didn't say I'm really skilled at doing these, I just said I'm enjoying it. Last Sunday, my girls and I went to visit my mom. I was silly and thought that if I took my machine, I could get some good pointers and maybe hammer out a diaper or two. Or maybe a dress. I wasn't sure what I would've made, just thought I Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-64790193462396886482008-10-25T22:56:00.002-05:002008-10-25T23:06:00.015-05:00Diaper Making Take TwoThanks to the chick with the needle for giving me the pointer on how to sew straight. She told me to align my fabric with the foot. That really helped me a lot!The diaper isn't the prettiest thing in the world, much like the kite shirt; but I made it! I struggled with the back elastic. I was kind of confused about how to do it, but I got it figured out well enough, I guess. Some of my fabric Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-63511592328936213302008-10-25T22:43:00.002-05:002008-10-25T22:55:47.985-05:00Diaper Making Take OneAs I mentioned, I attempted to make a diaper for my younger daughter. I traced a one-size fitted diaper, but I didn't do my stitch placement well. I lost a lot of size. Also, my soaker is at the top of the diaper, so I can't stitch it closed without chopping it off. Here's the inside of the diaper. I used red thread because I didn't have white, but I kind of like it because it enabled me to Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-30060272480621865622008-10-24T00:15:00.003-05:002008-10-24T00:26:14.125-05:00Know When To Fold 'EmI'm not giving up. Not on day one of my blog! I had cut some pieces for a fitted diaper the other night. I made my pattern by tracing a one-size diaper onto a piece of interfacing. Then, I cut my fabrics (old flannel receiving blanket and the rest of the red bubble fat quarter from the kite shirt) and chose my soaker. I cut up an old microterry insert and wrapped it in an old flannel Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-60148603174034519912008-10-23T21:21:00.004-05:002008-10-23T21:51:24.880-05:00The Kite ShirtHaving children has made me do things I never imagined before. Things like childbirth. Picking cribs. Pureeing peaches and peas. And making a kite applique for a 3T tank top. You see, my toddler had her heart set on a zoo party for her birthday. Our guest list was originally a little bit high for what the zoo could allow, so we had to figure something else out. We decided on a picnic and Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-58635634172669257842008-10-23T20:53:00.002-05:002008-10-23T21:12:43.382-05:00My First ProjectAs I mentioned in my "Hello World" post, my first project ever was a burp cloth. Really simple straight stitches, right? Sew a rectangle and then up the folds, right? Who could mess that up!Well, as you can see in the above photo, there is a raw edge with threads loose and stuff. Like I said, it works great and is incredibly soft. It just isn't pretty. If I were doing it over again to gift,Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-29881229087876399872008-10-23T14:00:00.001-05:002008-10-23T15:51:19.227-05:00Starting OutWhen I mentioned to my mom that I wanted to start learning to sew, she excitedly offered me my great grandmother's machine. She recommended that it be cleaned and serviced before using and said it had its own cabinet. When we brought it home, I looked at it and was pretty intimidated. The machine looked like it could do a nice zig zag right through my finger.I searched around for info on the Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5727755711022131908.post-55673284229417614862008-10-23T12:11:00.001-05:002008-10-23T22:20:49.982-05:00Hello WorldI've had a sewing machine since Christmas of 2006. The intention was for me to learn how to sew diapers or wipes to sell in a local diaper shop. That never happened and the machine just began to collect dust. After the birth of my second child, aka the spit-up queen, I dusted my machine off. Well, my mother in law did. She altered the amazingly beautiful crib bedding she made for my daughter Lyndseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06407409812753161262noreply@blogger.com2
